A "MCC" denotes it as being from the Michigan "Flat Rock" foundry. A "DIF" means that it came from the Dearborn foundry. A "CCP" will identify it as being from the Cleveland foundry. Maybe you can search it or one of the engine builders can help us out here.) On the top rear of the block, between the top two bellhousing bolts, next to the oil pressure sending outlet, is the identification of the foundery where the block was cast. (I've unfortunately lost my link to a post on here from last winter where a member gives the process for reading the code. It will be a 3 digit code consisting of a number, letter and a number that gives you the actual month day and year of the block. For the actual production date you will have to pull the intake manifold and there will be a code in the lifter valley toward the front of the block. It is, as Critter has said, on the outside of the block, on the right side (passenger) above the starter area. What you are wanting is a block "production code". Actually "VIN" means "vehicle Identification number" and it applies to the body of a vehicle.
